5,500 people die every year in the UK alone from diseases caused by exposure to asbestos.
That compares with 500 people killed on the roads “driving for work reasons” and 147 worker fatalities in the UK in 2018/19.
Are these asbestos-related deaths just the result of legacy exposures? Or, just fly-by-night operators cutting corners? No, and no. The NHS alone has seen 13 prosecutions since 2010 and 381 compensation claims since 2013 leading to £26m in pay-outs.
We have 6 million tonnes of asbestos in our schools (80%+ of them), hospitals (almost all London hospitals) and 1.5 million other UK buildings. Have you got it under control?
Watch this webinar and learn:
1. What the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 does and does not demand of you
2. How you can effectively meet these demands and prevent exposure to asbestos
